A website with an archaic name, perhaps? Not that I can think of one... Or something/someone within a religeous concept?
Mohammed (Mekka)
Jesus (Jerusalem)
Moses (Sinai)

Gah! This sounds like an abstract thingie!

(I'm evil! I'll kick off the first comment by saying its abstract, see how many others I can trick into believing it might be abstract!)

Visit? Are we guessing a country? A country or an empire that is great in the past, doing many great things, having many people visiting it, but that country of empire is no more as of today, but there are still many who visit that place?

Yes, I am referring to the Roman Empire! Ruled by Julius Caesar and his bloodlines to a certain age.

(By the way, I watched the movie - The Last Legion, very entertaining action flick)

My attempted guess for this riddle would be:
Rome, or the Roman Empire

My reasons being:
1. Roman Empire is great in the past (I think so)
2. Did many great things (Should be gua ...)
3. Many people visit it (If #1 and #2 is correct)
4. Rome is not more (Go watch The Last Legion)
5. Many people still visit Italy (It is a nice place to visit)

Many people still visit Italy today, one of the popular tourism areas aye?
